Ukrainians and Welsh Celebrate St David’s Day in Swansea Together

On March 1st, Ukrainians and Welsh people joined in celebration of St David’s Day at the Croeso 2025 Festival in Swansea, giving the Ukrainian community an opportunity to express gratitude to the Welsh people for their warm welcome and ongoing support.

The festival proved to be both busy and memorable. Ukrainian culture was showcased on stage through traditional dances, songs, and musical performances. Meanwhile, festival attendees enjoyed sampling a variety of Ukrainian cakes and pastries at the community stall.

In addition to the cultural performances and culinary offerings, Ukrainians proudly participated in the traditional parade that forms an important part of the St David’s Day celebrations. This participation highlighted the growing integration of the Ukrainian community within Welsh society.

The event was particularly successful in fundraising efforts, with over £1,230 collected during the day. These funds will be directed toward supporting paramedics and hospitals in Ukraine, providing essential aid where it’s most needed.

The organizers of Sunflowers Wales expressed deep appreciation to all volunteers who contributed to the event’s success by baking, crafting, and staffing the stalls throughout the day. Special thanks were also extended to the performers who shared Ukrainian culture with festival attendees and to everyone who visited their stand and showed solidarity with Ukraine.

During these challenging times, such support and solidarity are especially meaningful to Ukrainians living abroad, and they were touched by the kind words and gestures from many Welsh people throughout the festival.
