On August 24th, Victoria Park in Cardiff became a vibrant meeting place for families, friends, and supporters of Ukraine as the city hosted its fourth annual celebration of Ukrainian Independence Day. Organised by the local Ukrainian community, the event brought together music, dance, art, and food in a joyful tribute to Ukrainian culture and resilience.
The programme featured live performances of Ukrainian and Welsh songs, traditional crafts, an art exhibition, and a variety of activities for children and families—including volleyball matches and picnic areas. Ukrainian and Welsh musicians performed side by side, expressing gratitude to the Welsh community for its ongoing support of Ukrainian refugees.
Beyond the festivities, the gathering served as a moment of reflection and solidarity, honouring those who continue to defend Ukraine’s independence. The event was a powerful reminder of the strength of community and the importance of cultural exchange.
