The Welsh Government has announced a £53,100 funding award for a new Ukraine Immigration Advice Service, running from September 2025 to July 2026. Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice Jane Hutt MS revealed that the service, delivered through partnership with Settled, will provide specialist immigration support for Ukrainians who arrived in Wales through the Homes for Ukraine programme.
Supporting Complex Cases
The service addresses growing demand for specialist assistance with complex immigration matters, targeting vulnerable Ukrainian residents who need professional guidance to continue living in Wales legally.
The programme offers two key components: direct legal casework for complex immigration situations and accessible online workshops for those with simpler visa applications who can manage independently with guidance.
Nation of Sanctuary Commitment
This initiative forms part of Wales’ commitment to becoming the world’s first “Nation of Sanctuary” and delivers on promises made in the Anti-racist Wales Action Plan.
Hutt praised delivery partners for maintaining Wales’ “Team Wales approach” to welcoming Ukrainian guests and supporting their integration into local communities.
The service provides crucial support during a critical period when many Ukrainian families must make important decisions about their long-term residence status in Wales.
