Aid Convoy from Cardiff Departs for Ukraine with Five Vehicles

A delegation including Senedd Members Michael Antoniw, Carwyn Jones, and Alun Davies departed Cardiff this week with five vehicles loaded with humanitarian aid for Ukraine, continuing the Senedd 4 Ukraine initiative.

The group, which also includes Paul Humphries and Carwyn Donovan, gathered outside the Welsh Parliament building in Cardiff Bay before beginning their eastward journey. The mission demonstrates cross-party solidarity in supporting Ukraine during the ongoing conflict.

Since the Russian invasion began in February 2022, the Senedd 4 Ukraine initiative has delivered dozens of vehicles and over £1 million worth of aid to Ukraine. The current mission adds five more vehicles packed with essential supplies and medical equipment.

Recipients of previous aid deliveries have confirmed that the support has been invaluable and life-saving. The vehicles will provide crucial assistance to Ukrainian civilians and medical services.

The Welsh-Ukrainian community and its supporters have expressed their good wishes for the delegation’s safe travels. Previous fundraising efforts, including a GoFundMe campaign, have helped finance these vital missions.

The current fundraising campaign, Help for Ukraine – Needed Now More Than Ever, continues to seek support for future humanitarian efforts. Those wishing to contribute can visit: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-for-ukraine-needed-now-more-than-ever

The delegation’s journey represents Wales’s ongoing commitment to standing with Ukraine and providing practical, life-saving assistance during these challenging times.
