Last Wednesday, the Park Hotel pub hosted an incredibly successful charity concert “Folk for Ukraine,” demonstrating strong solidarity between Barry residents and the Ukrainian people.
The event, organized in collaboration with the Blessed Crow band, raised over £500 in donations. In addition to monetary contributions, attendees also donated numerous boxes of bandages and medical equipment, which will soon be sent to Ukraine.
The evening was filled with a special atmosphere of unity and support. The Blessed Crow band delivered an exceptional set of protest songs, and during the intermission, guests had the unique opportunity to enjoy performances by Ukrainian women in traditional costumes. A particularly moving moment was their rendition of “Yma o Hyd,” whose lyrics hold deep meaning for Ukrainians in the context of their struggle against Russian aggression.
“We are extremely grateful to everyone who joined this important initiative,” the event organizers noted. “The support from the Barry community shows that Ukrainians are not alone in their fight.”
