New eVisa Instructions for UK Residents Without Valid Passport or BRP

The UK Home Office has updated its guidance for people who have been granted permission to stay in the UK but do not currently have a valid passport or Biometric Residence Permit (BRP). This is particularly important for Ukrainians and others in the UK under humanitarian schemes.

If you were granted permission to stay in the UK on or before 31 October 2024 and you do not have a valid identity document (such as a passport or BRP), you can now create a UKVI account and access your eVisa online.

If your permission to stay was granted after 31 October 2024, and you do not have a valid passport, an account will be created for you automatically, and you will receive instructions by email or post.

The eVisa is your digital proof of immigration status. You’ll need it to demonstrate your right to work, rent housing, and access public services in the UK.
