A group of dedicated firefighters from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service is preparing for an important humanitarian mission to Ukraine. The team, based at the service’s headquarters in Llantrisant, will be donating five fire engines to support Ukraine’s emergency services in their ongoing crisis.
The firefighters will personally deliver the vehicles to Poland as part of a larger convoy, where the fire engines will then be transferred to Ukrainian emergency responders. This generous contribution demonstrates Wales’ continued commitment to supporting Ukraine during challenging times.
Mick Antoniw MS, who has family ties to Ukraine, recently visited the headquarters to thank the firefighters and share personal experiences of delivering aid to the region. Antoniw expressed profound gratitude for the team’s generosity and willingness to donate both equipment and expertise.
The convoy is scheduled to depart from Llantrisant on April 6th, with community members planning to gather to see the team off on their journey.
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts across Wales to provide practical assistance to Ukraine’s emergency services, which continue to operate under difficult circumstances. The donated fire engines will help Ukrainian firefighters maintain essential emergency services for communities affected by the war.
